When an appliance such as MySQL reaches the limits of one physical server (or Node in our Grid terminology), it cannot simply expand beyond those limits of resources to automatically use other Node resources. However, we can add a more powerful server to the Grid which will then automatically migrate your MySQL database to the new Node and re-task the old Node to our other Grid service requirements. This process works in reverse as well, if your requirements shrink, the Grid will automatically re-task unused Grid resources to our other service requirements. Again, you're only paying for what you are using.

You may decide that the only answer is to restructure your application to fully utilise task scheduling across multiple (scaleable) resources for instance more, smaller, MySQL databases carrying out specific functions of the application.
