New AppLogic v3 shows it's an Enterprise-class-act

(July 27th, 2011) — DNS Europe are delighted at the announcement of CA AppLogic v3.0 today, and would like to congratulate the team at CA for their fantastic work on the new version.

Version 3.0 represents a radical improvement on what was already the world's Best Cloud Platform, an accolade awarded to AppLogic 2.9 at the 3rd annual Cloud Computing World Forum in London in June 2011.

Version 3.0 has some truly game changing features for an MSP like DNS Europe, and our diverse customers.

Here are some of the headline features new in versions 3.0.

Agnostic Hypervisor: Version 3.0 of AppLogic now supports both VMware ESX and Xen hypervisors in the same grid, allowing grid operators or Cloud Control Panel users to select which hypervisor their appliances should run on. This finally brings AppLogic's cloud orchestration and application management power to VMware.

OVF Import Feature: Users can import workloads from VMware or Xen using the standards-based Open Virtualization Format (OVF) interchange format. This is further testament to CA's longstanding commitment to open standards. OVF import simplifies operations, increases agility and liberates VMware or Xen based workloads for operation within AppLogic applications.

New Global Fabric Controller: The Global Fabric Controller bring data centre automation to AppLogic, extending AppLogic's abstraction and simplification to the physical node level, simplifying installation and maintenance. Automatic detection and inventory functions further boost AppLogic as the number one ITSM friendly cloud platform.

VLAN Tagging Support: VLAN tagging support extends private networking to multi-tenant hosting on a shared grid allowing us to segregate customer traffic and and offer enhanced networking security, bolstering AppLOgics already world class zero trust model.

Role Based User Access Controls: Users and user groups can have LDAP enabled policy controlled access to AppLogic functionality, improving security and ease-of-use, and further advancing AppLogic's integration with existing directory services.

Fully Cloud Control Panel Ready: AppLogic version 3.0 is fully compatible with DNS Europe's Cloud Control Panel, the roadmap for which takes full advantage of these new features, including elective hypervisor provisioning, integration with LDAP access controls and OVF import.

These are merely 6 new features out of a host of news capabilities and improvements bundled with version 3.0.
